Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
