Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the region, producing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact

Residents reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
