Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
